Commercial Manager - Hong Kong
Tier 1 Global Construction & Project Management Firm
Outstanding Expatriate Salary Package

Continued market growth has created this new role for a Commercial Manager with our client, an Australian Tier 1 international construction and project management firm with worldwide offices. Their projects are civil, infrastructural and building and are large-scale, high $ value projects. The firm is now looking to recruit a Commercial Manager for their tender team and analyse risks and opportunities from a commercial and claims perspective for new tenders and contracts. The projects are primarily buildings with some civil projects also.

Reporting to the Head of Pre-Contracts, this role is responsible to:
• Manage all financial and risk issues pertaining to the new contracts and projects and ensure that the planning and risk management of tenders are carried out to optimize sustainable business profitability.
• Perform project reviews to ensure that the project applies appropriate cost budgeting, resource planning, milestone scheduling, cost analysis, monitoring of cash flow and development of a refined costing report.
• Provide leadership and overview of contractual variation assessments of claims and arbitrating any disputes. Compilation and presentation of claims management strategies for the project.
• Client liaison and negotiation.
• Prepare monthly project reporting to Head of Commercial, including financial forecasts and pipelines reports.
• Integration and implementation of company and project-driven procedures, policies and resource.
• Review status of contracts with regard to financial risk of the project and provide guidance and recommendations for improvements.

Requirements

• Degree qualification in engineering, construction or comparable with a minimum of 12 year’s commercial construction experience with long term experience with a Tier 1 contractor on projects valued more than USD500M. Candidates must possess at least 5 years in Lead Commercial positions with tendering expertise.
• Candidates must be highly capable in the review of contracts and claims to assist the tender team to review contracts and to identify risks and maximize opportunities.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate to a high level with clients and stakeholders.
• A strong dynamic negotiator with proven leadership skills and high energy levels is essential to fit the culture of this firm.
• Candidates with expatriate experience in South East Asia particularly Hong Kong will be highly regarded.
