Electrical Substation Design Lead

Job description / Role

Job Summary

Responsible end-to-end for all Engineering products for substation structures (electrical) and to provide professional engineering expertise and leadership for these products and across Projects in India/Sri Lanka/Bangladesh region

Job Responsibility

Pre-Bid Design:
- Review Technical Abstracts and solve technical queries raised by Consultant/Clients.
- Develop and check design and drawings required in the tender submission
- Develop & review final key single line; relay functional, DC distribution and AC distribution diagrams
- Co-ordinate with Procurement, Factories, Central Planning, Business Development teams to ensure that the best price is quoted

Execution of Contract:
- Review of design calculation of the substation equipment
- Review final key single line; relay functional, DC distribution and AC distribution diagrams
- Review physical layout of the substation plan-sections, Control building layout, Cable trench layout, lighting layout, lightning protection layout
- Review block logic diagram for the control and protection
- Review the vendor drawings of the all the substation equipment
- Review the cable schedule and core schedule for power and control cables
- Check the drawings prepared by the draughtsman and Issue the drawings to site/ client
- Coordinate with the site at the time of project execution and commissioning
- Should be familiar with the codes of practice like EN, ACI, BS, IS etc
- Should have commercial acumen that would help during the tender and project-related discussions
- Should have led a larger team of 8-10 members and have experience in mentoring/coaching the team for higher performance

Knowledge (Technical / Functional):
- Knowledge of civil engineering- Particularly basic knowledge of execution of transmission projects, various techniques etc
- Working knowledge of
- PLS tower and CAAD
- itower
- AutoCad
- Staad Pro, RCDC

Knowledge of design Codes:
- EN /BS codes
- IEC /IS codes
- ACI/ASCE codes
- South African codes
- DIN codes.
