Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Reporting to the India Managing Director and the Regional Finance Manager, this role holds primary responsibility for all financial matters affecting the Mott MacDonald business in South Asia, and driving the performance of the Regional Finance Support services Centre (Middle East and South Asia)

Key duties and responsibilities:
- Responsibility for financial reporting, credit management, taxation, treasury (including banking, mandates, bonds), and internal controls. Management of all finance staff, including Divisional Accountants, with active role in appointments, training and performance development.
- Assisting India Managing Director with preparation and evaluation of business plans and project proposals. Assessment of the financial aspects of contracts in order to facilitate invoicing and payments and to identify grounds for additional fees.
- Responsible for production and interpretation of monthly management accounts for the Unit; controlling financial performance by monitoring and improving project profitability, staff utilisation and overheads control, and cashflow management.
- Management of working capital to ensure there is a proper understanding of capital employed with WIP billed and debts collected promptly.
- Regular meetings with Divisional and sub-Divisional managers to assist in the review of projects, recognise corrective actions, identify claims for additional fees and changes to staff requirements.
- Coordinate finance training of engineers to enable them to understand and interpret financial information, ensuring accurate project budgeting and revenue recognition.
- Supervision of the production of annual budgets and forecasts at sub-Divisional level, and consolidation through to Unit level.
- Management of the Regional Finance Support service Centre to drive performance, improving efficiency and developing the scope and control procedures.
- Coordinate production of statutory accounts and tax returns for each entity in South Asia.
- Assist with financial evaluation and due diligence of potential acquisition targets, strategic initiatives and complex trading arrangements.
- Coordinate project and country compliance with Group Directives including insurances, trade licenses and registrations as required.

Requirements

- Qualified accountant with 10 years + relevant experience
- Strong analytical ability with effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Practical & flexible approach with experience of managing a finance team
- Based in Mumbai and willing to undertake business travel
