Senior Buyer - Indonesia

Linum Consult’s client is a specialist contractor in the Oil & Gas industry, operating on a global scale. They are currently seeking a Senior Buyer to join their team in Jakarta, Indonesia.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Purchasing equipment, materials, and packages within the oil & gas industry, with prescribed purchasing/procurement regulations and procedures
• Managing purchasing activities to deliver a cost effective, timely and value-added purchasing function
• Liaising with other company departments to provide support with storage, stock control, budgeting and sales analysis
• Bringing support for the vendor’s qualification in collaboration with technical and QA departments
• Preparing enquiries and issuing the call for tenders
• Ensuring that RFQs are issued in an expedient manner with all the relevant documentation
• Chasing vendors for quotations within the time allotted as per project requirements
• Negotiating best price with vendors
• Evaluating vendors for quality/cost/time objectives
• Organising progress/clarification meetings; either internally or with vendors
• Tracking and reporting to project management and head management the purchasing progress and status
• After placing an order, following up with the vendor on a daily basis with the expeditor and project management to identify and prevent any difficulties/slippages

Requirements

• Between 5 and 10 years’ experience within a similar role
• Strong holistic understanding of equipment and packages in the oil & gas industry
• Excellent technical ability of drafting and negotiating contractual and commercial terms
• Previous history of procuring technical packages of cost upwards of US$1 million
• Proactive attitude to chase vendors and meet cost/deadline objectives
• Good knowledge of import/export procedures in international situations (customs, assurance, tax, etc.)
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to take the initiative and work independently
