About the Position:

The College of International Studies is seeking candidates with a background in International Relations who specialize in Strategic and Security Studies. We encourage recent PhD graduates to apply. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses covering a range of subjects, including security studies, conflict studies, foreign policy, diplomacy, peace studies and related fields. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate is expected to pursue scholarly research and serve the university community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate is expected to:

• Teach undergraduate courses in the College of International Studies and the Core Liberal Arts program
• Develop course materials – syllabi, assignments, learning objectives, assessment instruments
• Participate in college and university services – committees, program review and planning
• Conduct independent and original research both independently and in collaboration with faculty members
• Be available to students for additional coaching and advising as required

Requirements

Qualifications:

• PhD in International Relations/Political Science or related field from an American/reputable university (degree in hand by August 2022)
• Experience with the American style higher education system
• Advanced communication (verbal, written and interpersonal) and organizational skills

About the Company

AUIB is an American-style, nonprofit university located next to the Baghdad International Airport in Baghdad. This large-scale, multi-million dollar project is funded by Iraqi and U.S. donors, both public and private. The university opens for students on Jan. 17, 2021, with the College of Arts & Sciences, College of International Studies, and the College of Business. Eventually, there will be 10 colleges at the university, including a College of Medicine.
