Bilingual Construction Instructor (Arabic & English) - Basra Technical Training Centre
Wood is currently recruiting for a Bilingual Construction Instructor (Arabic and English) to be based in Basra, Iraq.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Construction Instructor reports to the BTTC Centre Supervisor and is responsible for delivery construction technical training programs assigned to him (Training Centre and OJT), including materials development as required. The Construction Instructor will be qualified to deliver and assess internal accredited level 1 & 2 construction vocational programs.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Lead the departmental development and on-going maintenance of all construction training programs, course materials (theoretical and practical), procedures and assessments to satisfy the client and Awarding Organisation requirements
- Assist the BTTC Centre Supervisor in delivering a range of ECITB Level 1 & 2 construction programs, covering areas such as: HSE, Scaffolding, Rigging and Crane Operator, Welding, Pipefitting, Plating, Manual Handling
- Ensure that the equipment in the work areas, workshops and laboratories are suitable and adequate in number to complement the training and assessment
- Internally Verify and assess trainee portfolio's to the agreed External Verifier and Awarding Organisation standards
- Assist in developing written and performance tests for assessing specialized training programs
- Ensure that the centre maintains Approved Centre status by the Awarding Organisations
- In line with Company policy, discipline the students he is responsible for when required
Key Deliverables:
- Deliver training as and when required
- Assist in identifying and sourcing suitable redundant equipment from Operating Companies for training purposes
- Ensure accreditation of all programs he is responsible for at the centre is maintained
- Successfully complete all assigned teaching and assessment schedules
- Be active in suggesting ways of continually improving the training programs
- Uphold the Company Quality Policies
- Any other duties as reasonably required by Wood management
Requirements:
- Recognised international vocational assessor / verifier qualification
- Train-the-trainer qualification
- Trade and HSSE certificates
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- Arabic and English speaking to advanced level
- Intermediate level knowledge to IT operating systems, such as: Windows - PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook
- Minimum 5-years of technical vocational training experience
- Minimum 10-years of construction industry experience
- Welding experience, preferable qualified welder to international standards
- Experience in operating machinery. E.g. Lift equipment, scaffolding/rigging equipment, forklift trucks, cranes
Personal attributes:
- Be responsible for own professional development with regards to developments in teaching industry trade licenses and apply those appropriately to the Centre
- To work within the Company's Quality procedures
- To be aware of Health and Safety Regulations and uphold your responsibility to Health & Safety as an employee
- To be aware of actions necessary in cases of accident or fire
- To keep your work area clean and safe
- To always act as an ambassador for the Company
