Overview
Wood is recruiting for a Corrosion Engineer (Local National) to join its Iraq Business Unit on a 5 days on, 2 days off rotation to focus primarily on static equipment such as piping, pressure vessels, tanks, and pipelines. This role is onsite in Basra, Iraq with travel requirements.
Responsibilities
The Corrosion Engineer would work in the Production - Surface Technical department, Integrity Section, and would be involved in day-to-day operations support for corrosion management. The engineer would be primarily focused on static equipment such as piping, pressure vessels, tanks, and pipelines. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Corrosion surveillance at assigned assets, including stewardship of fluid analysis, coupons/probes.
- Interface with operation/maintenance for integrity-related issues and develop recommendations as needed.
- Planning, execution, and stewardship of corrosion prevention programs including cathodic protection, chemical treatment, coatings, and internal environmental control programs such as oxygen exclusion.
- Stewardship of inspection programs in assigned assets. Review inspection data and provide follow-up recommendations for monitoring, corrosion control, inspections, and/or repairs.
- Fitness for service assessments.
- Repair recommendations and participation in root cause failure analyses.
- Materials selection recommendations.
- Conduct risk analysis as needed.
- Develop periodic reports to management on materials and corrosion control issues, opportunities, key performance indicators, and risks.
- Serve as a single point of contact to operations and maintenance for certain assets or functional aspects of corrosion management.

Expected:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering in Metallurgy, Mechanical, or Chemistry; a Master's with specialization in Corrosion is preferred.
- Good academic background.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in oil and gas upstream.
- Understanding of corrosion mechanisms and experience in corrosion management.
- Willingness to spend time in the plant(s).

Systems:
Familiarity or experience with the following systems is desired: work management system, integrity management system.
