Job Summary

The Environmental Specialist develops environmental impact assessments, environmental impact statements, pollution studies, noise assessments, field studies and surveys, etc. for non-complex environmental studies under the guidance of senior project team members. The jobholder assesses the environmental impact of engineering projects, and assesses environmental effects and potential mitigation measures to offset negative environmental effects. He shall stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in environmental studies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collect and analyze external data including relevant environmental regulations and previously conducted environmental studies for non-complex environmental studies
• Conduct pre-assessment studies and organize and execute field studies and surveys for non-complex environmental studies
• Gather and analyze information related to the environmental effect of proposed projects, including project information and local environmental data for non-complex environmental studies
• Develop conclusions on the environmental effects assessment and potential mitigation measures to negative effects of proposed projects for non-complex projects
• Develop Environmental Impact Statement and Reports showcasing Impact Assessment findings for non-complex studies
• Review prepared environmental studies with senior project team members and implement revisions based on reviews and, as needed
• Assist Project Managers with implementing quality control policies and procedures on deliverables and conduct peer review on team members’ deliverables
• Implement corporate policies and procedures

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related field (e.g. Environmental Science)
• Chartered Professional Engineering certification or equivalent is preferred
• Understanding of international engineering standards and codes
• Understanding of regional environmental regulations and codes
• Good quantitative and analytical skills
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Strong interpersonal and managerial skills
• Proficiency in spoken and written English; Arabic is an advantage
