Title: ESP Reliability Advisor

Overview

Reporting directly to the ESP Reliability Team Leader, the ESP Reliability Advisor has a key role to improve the reliability and increase uptime of the ESP fleet. The role will be responsible for investigating, analyzing, maintaining the failures database, and proposing solutions to increase the overall ESP fleet reliability (downhole & topside) to the highest possible standard to meet company-set targets. A strong working relationship with the subsurface, production, maintenance, projects, and workover teams is essential.

Responsibilities

• Participate in ESP preliminary failure analysis by analyzing the ESP operating parameters and evidence.
• Attend equipment DIFA for disassembling and inspecting failed ESP components to help identify failure causes.
• Along with contractors, prepare root cause analysis, dismantle, and inspection reports of failed ESP systems.
• Conduct root cause failure analysis using industry standard tools such as the 5-Whys and cause-and-effect matrix.
• Set up and lead the DIFA wash-up meetings with vendors, subsurface, operations, and wells team, and agree on the corrective actions case by case.
• Share and follow up on the implementation of wash-up meeting corrective actions with the relevant teams to ensure implementation and avoid repeated failures.
• Work with diesel genset and VSD operations and maintenance vendors and reliability engineers to analyze surface equipment performance, failure modes, and power quality analysis, and propose solutions to increase equipment reliability and uptime.
• Participate in surface equipment RCFA to achieve improved reliability targets.
• Along with the ESP reliability engineers, maintain the ROO ESP failure database updated with ESP failures data.
• Support ROO Reliability Team Leader in proposing and implementing improvements to increase equipment run life.
• Support ESP reliability team to investigate warranty incidents.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper ESP operating procedures are in place, including creating any missing procedures or amending any existing ones if required.
• Monitor and coach staff and contractors in an international safety culture and expectations.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• A significant number of years' experience in hydrocarbon operations (10+), preferably in a culturally diverse working environment.
• Significant experience in ESP reliability improvement.
• A track record of delivery in a range of ESP roles.
• Detailed knowledge of electrical submersible pumps, variable speed drive, and power generation systems is essential, including:
• Design and sizing (application)
• Program development (procedures)
• System commissioning
• System troubleshooting
• Experience with multiple ESP vendors
• Experience with ESP operations
• Significant knowledge of ESP DIFA and RCFA.
• A proven ability to coach, train, and mentor staff.
• Experience working internationally, in a remote location in a multicultural environment is preferred.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree level qualification or equivalent experience (10+ years) required.
• The candidate should have significant experience in ESP installation and operations.
• Experience in ESP downhole and surface equipment (including diesel generators) DIFA/RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) process.
• Demonstrate strong decision-making, critical thinking, taking initiative, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in English language (speech, reading, and writing) mandatory.
• Excellent skills in interpersonal relations and communication.
• Excellent computer and software skills.
