Overview
Wood is currently looking for an HSE Team Lead to join our team in Basra.
Responsibilities
- Support client activities in safety-related matters based on deep technical expertise.
- Maintain safety management systems and regulatory compliance, contribute to strategic development, and drive safety behaviors to ensure the business is informed and focused on managing safety and reducing risk.
- Establish and implement safety programs, develop regional or issue-specific campaigns and initiatives to improve personal and process safety to drive safety culture and deliver safe, reliable, and compliant operations.
- Provide specialized technical advice on aspects of site activities that require additional support, such as identification of emerging risks regarding safe working practices and compliance with relevant safety policies and procedures.
- Support the improvement of process and personal safety to achieve the goal of "no accidents, no harm to people, and no damage to the environment" by conducting inspections, investigating incidents, undertaking hazard assessments, and assisting in providing health and safety training to the relevant workforce.
- Develop and lead client-based HSE work programs in conjunction with site HSE advisors and operational managers to support delivery of client HSE plan deliverables.
- Define and embed appropriate safety management systems and supporting performance standards (including COW) to provide direction and professional advice on HSE requirements and systems, regularly reviewing these systems and procedures to ensure simplicity and effectiveness of execution.
- Consult and coach the relevant workforce in conjunction with site HSE advisors concerning safety and health procedures/programs, hazard identification, promotional activities, and training as appropriate to stimulate health and safety awareness and continuous improvement.
- Act as technical lead for human performance for the client, ensuring the communication, coaching, and training of the client principles and working to ensure these principles are embedded in all client operations and future projects.
- Undertake health, safety, and compliance audits, identifying gaps, creating gap closure plans, implementing solutions, and assisting with incident investigations and risk assessments.
