Wood is recruiting for an Operations Shift Engineer to join its Iraq business unit focusing on overseeing the operations during their shift, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations for a major onshore brownfield project in Basra, Iraq on a 5/2 work schedule.

This role is a full-time on-site role in Basra, Iraq with travel requirements.

Job objectives

The Shift Engineer is responsible for overseeing the operations during their shift, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and control plant operations
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed
  • Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams
  • Report and escalate issues as needed
  • Maintain accurate logs and records
  • Supervise and monitor plant operations during the shift
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
  • Coordinate with other departments for smooth operations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues
  • Prepare and submit shift reports

Expected:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in plant operations or a similar role
  • Knowledge of plant safety and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with control systems and monitoring equipment
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude
