Overview
Wood is recruiting for a Planner (Local National) to join its Iraq Business Unit on a 5 days on, 2 days off rotation to oversee the planning and coordination of financial, contractual, and operational activities to support the efficient execution of daily operations. This role is onsite in Basra, Iraq with travel requirements.

Key Objectives
The Planner is responsible for overseeing the planning and coordination of financial, contractual, and operational activities to support the efficient execution of daily operations. This role ensures proper budget stewardship, contract administration, procurement processes, and documentation management while maintaining alignment with project schedules and company objectives.
- Stewarding Annual Budget and Spending:
- Develop and monitor annual budgets, ensuring cost control and efficient allocation of resources.
- Track and report spending against the approved budget, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Contract Administration:
- Manage contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure contract deliverables are met.
- Maintain accurate records of contract terms, amendments, and renewals.
- Create Purchase Requests:
- Initiate and manage purchase requisitions and orders in compliance with procurement policies.
- Track procurement activities and resolve any discrepancies.
- Following Project Schedules:
- Assist in planning and tracking project schedules, ensuring timely execution of tasks.
- Collaborate with project teams to monitor milestones and identify potential delays.
- Provide regular updates and reports on project progress.
- Other Administrative Work:
- Support daily operational and administrative tasks as required.
- Coordinate meetings, prepare reports, and manage documentation.
- Assist in organizing and streamlining workflow processes.
- Archive Documentation:
- Ensure proper documentation of all relevant records, contracts, and reports.
- Maintain an organized and accessible filing system for easy retrieval of information.
- Ensure compliance with document retention policies.
- Other Planning Work:
- Assist in planning and scheduling maintenance, shutdowns, and operational activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning and resource management.
- Identify and implement best practices in planning and scheduling.
- Responsible and accountable for organization communicating expectations on job safety, health, environmental, and security.
- Maintain good communications between Surface Technical supervisors, Maintenance, and other departments.
- Steward and manage Planning KPIs.

- 5 years of experience in the upstream or midstream oil and gas project/operations engineering business.
- 5 years of experience in planning, budgeting, contract administration, or related functions.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions; prepare clear and concise records, reports, and other written materials.
- Organize, plan, and complete projects.
- Communicate effectively and professionally, orally and in writing.
- Work with minimal supervision; schedule own time according to established priorities; work under less detailed instructions to complete assignments.
Skills
- Excellent communication (oral & written) in English.
- Highest standard of safety, health, environment aptitude and cultivates the same in others.
- Ability to interact in a multi-cultural environment.
- Good management/supervisory, interpersonal and motivation skills.
Systems
- Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project.
- Proficiency in planning and procurement software (SAP, Primavera, or similar tools preferred).
