Safety Officer

Job description / Role

Responsibilities

• Enforce and implement safety policies and procedures on-site, in coordination with the contractor
• Conduct periodic safety meetings with supervision staff and the contractors’ representative
• Conduct safety audits on-site in accordance with corporate policies and procedures
• Identify safety non-conformance issues on site and develop corrective/preventive actions to address non-conformances with the contractors
• Prepare periodic safety performance reports, highlighting safety issues on site and recommend safety initiatives and mitigation measures to address non-compliance patterns
• Carry out accident and incident investigations on site
• Verifying that all safety reports are submitted to related government institutions.
• Responding to workers’ safety concerns
• Manages all communications with government departments in regards of safety
• Assisting with the preparation of a construction health and safety plan
• Review and approve the contractors’ safety plans
• Testing the effectiveness of site emergency response plans

Requirements

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills Required to Execute this Role

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
• Certification in HSSE is preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience in monitoring safety applications on road sites in accordance with international safety regulations and project Safety Manual.
• Experience with safety audit activities and the resolution of safety non-conformances on construction sites
• Experience with the safety practices of contractors
• Knowledge of construction supervision services and safety best practices
• Good interpersonal and leadership skills
• Strong communication skills
• Good planning and organization skills
• Strong attention to details
• Strong time management skills
• Proficiency in spoken and written Arabic and English
