We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary School English Teacher to join a vibrant educational community in Baghdad, Iraq. The ideal candidate will inspire students to appreciate literature and improve their communication skills while fostering a love for the English language. This role involves creating engaging lesson plans, cultivating a supportive classroom environment, and promoting critical thinking and creativity among students. Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with the curriculum and cater to diverse learning styles.
- Teach a range of topics including literature, writing, grammar, and vocabulary to secondary school students.
- Assess student performance through various methods including tests, quizzes, and written assignments, providing constructive feedback to promote improvement.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters respect and understanding among peers.
- Utilize technology and multimedia resources to enhance learning and engagement in the classroom.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to develop interdisciplinary projects and ensure curriculum coherence.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and innovations in teaching.
- Organize and supervise extracurricular activities related to English language and literature, such as book clubs, writing workshops, or drama productions.
- Support students’ social and emotional development by being approachable and responsive to their needs.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field; a Master’s degree or PGCE certification is a Mandatory.
- Five years proven experience in teaching English at secondary school level.
- Strong understanding of the English language, literature, and pedagogy, with the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for mentoring and inspiring students.
- Ability to create engaging and interactive lesson plans that foster critical thinking and creativity.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance the learning experience.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to work in a diverse environment.
- Fluency in English is required, with a minimum of a B in GCSE English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for education.

Note, in Iraq their is 5% Social Security Tax. This is for your state pension.

Salary:
USD 2,000 to 3,500 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
