Overview

Wood is recruiting for a Technology Application Team Leader to join its Iraq Business Unit to support supervisors in leading the establishment and maintenance of data governance policies, processes, and standards. This role is onsite in Basra, Iraq, with travel requirements.

Key Objectives

  • Support the Application Supervisors and business lines to lead and manage the evolution, configuration, operation, and user support of technology applications including but not limited to SLB reservoir and production engineering applications (Petrel Eclipse, OFM, Pipesim, Techlog, etc.), AVEVA PI, Energy Component, Peloton Wellview, Landmark, ArcGIS, Kappa, etc., to meet the required service levels and performance objectives.
  • Lead the O&G technology application data governance, data management, and data analytics.
  • Support supervisors to lead the establishment and maintenance of the data governance policies, processes, and standards.
  • Assist Application Supervisor and business lines to establish and maintain the client exploration and production data architecture.
  • Lead the building and maintenance of unified technology data repositories.
  • Lead and conduct the data asset exploitation, utilization, and facilitate oilfield production process digital transformation with technology application operation.
  • Support supervisors to plan, establish, implement, and maintain the overall IT application blueprint, roadmaps, architectures, and portfolio.
  • Support the planning of the technology application development, provision, and support service with OEM vendors and service providers.
  • Support supervisors to manage the service contracts for technology applications' implementation and support, supervise and manage service acceptance and performance evaluations to services to applications in association with other supervisors.
  • Support supervisors and business lines to control and manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders for technology application licenses and OEM maintenance supports.
  • Support the management of application development and enhancement projects of technology applications and related business processes.
  • Support the organization of research, tests, workshops, and training for IT applications.
  • Lead activities in lifecycle management, license custody, capacity management, and configuration management related to technology applications.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with supervisors to facilitate the realization of department work plan and performance goals in IT application perspective.

Expected:

  • Over 8 years of professional experience in O&G technology application operation and support.
  • Specialized knowledge and skills in multiple of the following applications: SLB reservoir and production engineering applications, AVEVA PI, Energy Component, Peloton Wellview, ArcGIS, Kappa, etc.
  • Solid experience in team leadership and management in an IT organization.
  • Understanding and insight in IT application architecting, planning, and solution designing.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with teamwork orientation. Excellent decision-making, business judgment, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge and in-depth understanding of O&G upstream industry digitalization and major applications used in oil and gas exploration, production, and operation.
  • Excellent analytical and comprehension of business needs, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of software engineering and software application development management.
  • Experience in leading and managing globally diverse-culture teams and suppliers.
  • Bachelor's degree or above.

Desired:

  • Experience in and backgrounds of implementation, operation, and maintenance experience in multiple IT technical areas is preferred.
  • Proven project management skills with PMI PMP or Prince certificate is preferred.
  • Wide experience and knowledge in IT infrastructures, networking, telecommunication, and cybersecurity are preferred.
  • Wide experience and knowledge in operation technology infrastructures, industrial networks, process controls, and SCADA system solutions are preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of the ITIL framework and practices with ITIL processes is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in at least one programming language and skills in developing and supporting technology applications in the Oil & Gas upstream industry is preferred.
  • Experience in working with COTS technical applications; products specific to the Oil & Gas industry such as Petrel, OFM, Eclipse Black Oil Simulation, Pipesim, Techlog, etc. is preferred.
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English.
