Mechanical Buildings Services Engineer

Job description / Role

* Project briefing
* Preparation of conceptual and scheme designs
* Management of engineers undertaking detailed design solutions in accordance with the relevant Standards
* Feasibility studies.
* Preparation of technical specifications
* Liaison with clients to ensure projects are delivered on time to the client requirements
* Checking of the detailed design solution and engineering drawings
* Management of workload and resources.
* Production and checking of design documentation
* Attendance at client and site meetings. Review and inspection of electrical installations to new BC(A)R standards. Analysis of commissioning reports. Some travel abroad may be required from time to time.

Requirements

* Qualified to Degree level and have the relevant professional experience. Intermediate 3-5 yrs and Senior 5-10+yrs, chartered engineer or working towards same.
* Experience in managing the design process and familiar with all relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.
* Technical background in electrical engineering with a proven ability to create engineering solutions from client briefs.
* Experience in refurbishment and modification to existing structures and buildings is desirable
* Experience of managing multiple projects in a consultancy environment (or similar)
* Able to manage time efficiently and meet work budgets and targets
* Highly motivated and can work on own initiative
* Responsible, in co-operation with the engineering director, for the technical quality of conceptual designs, design schemes and detail drawings and other design documentation.
* Translate project specifications into concept designs in co-operation with Project Director and ensure that the subsequent design meets the project requirements.
* Produce and check engineering calculations that are necessary to support any conceptual scheme or detail engineering design work.
* Responsible for day to day tasks of design/build projects in terms of technical performance.
* Working knowledge of Autocad and design packagers such as IES, Hevacomp, Amtech and Dialux essential.
