Employment: Full Time

Our Middle East client is looking to engage a qualified person to oversee and direct all aspects of their Dairy farm operations and to expand the facilities and stock from 2500 cows to 5000.

The position includes the following activities and responsibilities:
- Along with the CEO and Board, formulating a long-range strategic plan for the physical operational and financial performance of the Farm Enterprise and the efficient use of all resources at his disposal
- Directing short-term and long-range planning and budget development to support strategic business goals of continuous improvements across production, Health & Safety, quality, reactive & preventative maintenance and facilities management
- Build relationships and demonstrate successful execution and effectiveness of business growth strategies for the smooth performance of the farm
- Providing leadership and directing all aspects of the day-to-day functional activities and operations of the dairy farm – rations preparation and feeding, milk production, quality systems, herd management, herd health and reproduction programs, upkeep of facilities, grounds and equipment, record keeping, monthly inventories, ordering of supplies, personnel evaluation, recruitment and training
- Maintaining lines of regular and detailed reporting to the CEO and Board
- Establishing performance/productivity milestones which are aggressive, real and tied to overall company strategy and goals
- Proposing the operating policies and procedures for all personnel to include protocols, reproduction/ pregnancy scanning, animal health and welfare, veterinary practice to include preventative and remedial activities, vaccine and drug procurement, Stock inspections, analysis of animal cull /mortality losses
- Monitor and analyse operating results, supply chain, Capex spending, performance/productivity milestones /KPI’s and take corrective action when required
- Support, mentor and develop the heads of secondary operations, including: Herd Manager, Department Managers/Foremen for Calf/Youngstock, Parlour/Milking teams, HR/H&S, Maintenance, Finance & Administration, Veterinarian/Herd Health Manager, Feed Manager

Requirements

- Degree or diploma in Agriculture
- Verifiable leadership qualities with over 10 years’ experience in managing intensive/ large scale dairy farm operations and a track record of building teams and ability to plan, organise and handle significant responsibility
- Ability to manage farm expansion and growth and able to provide input into best & efficient farm layout and design in terms of cow well-being and cost efficiency
- Articulate with excellent problem solving skills along with quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
- A proven capability in achieving high standards in quality milk production and optimum efficiencies in respect of cost per litre, pregnancy conception rates etc.
- A mature committed individual who is a good communicator with strong interpersonal management skills and ability to lead, develop a multinational workforce
