DESCRIPTION
Amazon's Middle East Product Team, located across Seattle, Dubai, and Jordan is looking for a highly analytical and technical Senior Product Manager to own Search for the Middle East. Millions of customers. Billions of queries. The scale and impact of Amazon Search is enormous, and we are looking for a senior product manager to help build innovative new search experiences and solve complex multi-lingual and multi-cultural customer behaviors to help customers find what they need on Amazon.
It is a pivotal role that will contribute to the evolution and success of Amazon's most recent e-commerce acquisition, Souq.com, and to help shape experiences for millions of current and new customers in the Middle East. As a Sr. Product Manager, you will help define and drive the strategy for Search in MENA. You will work with teams all across Amazon and jointly define, build and test new features, platform capabilities, and search experiences to delight our customers. You will run usability studies and obsessively read customer feedback to improve our search experience. You will partner with Amazon's category teams, from apparel, electronics, and groceries, to Amazon Global Store, Amazon Devices, and Amazon Basics. You will partner with the teams that power search relevance, query understanding, browse, and product recommendations.
You are expected to excel in an ambiguous, fast paced environment. You will need strong judgment to understand which opportunities drive the most strategic value for the business. You will not be limited by the present and will constantly look ahead to the future. Our goal is to improve key Search metrics and accelerate the rate of experimentation in Search.
This is a senior role and the successful candidate will enjoy diving deep into data, have outstanding analytical skills, excellent communication strategies and confident with executive level reviews. You will work in a matrix organization, influence people, and negotiate timelines with stakeholders. You will thrive in a collaborative, creative, analytical, and fast-paced environment and are comfortable interacting with technical software development teams. You must have the experience and capability to prepare documentation for senior executives.
Requirements
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or related field
· At least 6 years of relevant work experience in technical product, program, or project management.
· Proven success in delivering technology products/services in a high growth environment
· Data-driven decision making and quantitative analysis skills, including deep knowledge of statistical analysis, Excel, SQL, and/or other analytical techniques.
· Demonstrated experience as a strong leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and effectively influence across cross-functional teams
· Excellent interpersonal skills; proven ability to guide cross-functional teams through influence versus direct management
· Ability to think strategically while staying on top of tactical execution
· High degree of product ownership
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Deep experience authoring documents relating to product life cycle including product roadmap, business requirements and functional specifications
· Experience with customer development and validating products through customer feedback and A/B testing
· Experience defining projects, collecting requirements, writing detailed functional and test specifications, coordinating efforts to scope, schedule and deploy new features sets.
· Experience analyzing cost/benefit of feature selection.
· Demonstrated ability to dive deep in understanding the product, our business, and the competitive landscape
· Familiarity with complex systems and design flows.
· Experience working with Lucene, Solr, or ElasticSearch.
· Familiarity with Software Engineering processes, with detailed understanding of Software Development Life Cycle principles
· MBA or Master's degree in computer science
· Able to travel up to 20% of the time
