Mott MacDonald Kazakhstan LLP is looking for an experienced, capable and responsible Assistant Quantity Surveyor, experience of working as part of a team in the financial management and control of large scale mixed use developments will be a distinct advantage.

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor is to provide support and assistance to the Commercial team in assessing and processing Contractors and Consultant interim payment applications, preparation of monthly cost reports, support the management of client and tenant change control requests, prepare cost estimates and participate in procurement and value engineering exercises.

Job Description

* Follow change management procedures to assess client, consultant and tenant change requests (including impact to scope, budget, schedule, quality and risk), make recommendations, assist in negotiations with Contractor's, and prepare change orders/variations.
* Assist & support project managers in providing commercial advice for compliance with contractors accepted design and Employer's Requirements, work executed, valuation of non-compliant work etc.
* Support commercial and contractual negotiations.
* Participate in commercial meetings and proactively contribute to project meetings as and when required, draft minutes of meeting.
* Analyse Contractors interim valuations and assess actual value of work done, including evaluation of materials on site.
* Assist in the preparation of commercial/contractual correspondence/reports.
* Follow project documentation governance aligned with Company, Client and project requirements. Ensure project data integrity and security is maintained.
* Assess in conjunction with the Commercial team, Contractors submittals for compliance or otherwise with Employer's Requirements.
* Assess and value impact of accepted contractor's design changes/submittals for financial benefit to the Client.
* Demonstrate ability to identify project risks, develop risk mitigation and contingency plans, and implement such plans to reduce or eliminate project risks.
* Review and analyse cost date from suppliers and contractors.
* Assist in the preparation of RFP, bid documentation, carry out tender analysis, prepare tender evaluation and recommendation reports.
* Prepare and compile contract documents for work packages in conjunction with Commercial team.
* Review commercial close out documentation received from Contractor and ensure compliance with approved designs/specification requirements.
* Actively participate in resolving issues in conjunction with Contractor/Sub-Contractor's.
* Support the analysis and assessment of validity of contractors claims and entitlements to time and money.

Candidate Specification

* At least 3 years' experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor working in Design, Construction, Engineering and/or Real Estate Management projects, specific experience in large mixed use commercial developments would be an advantage.
* BSc in Quantity Surveying or similar level degree in related fields
* RICS certification or working towards RICS qualification an advantage but not essential.
* Strong communicator and relationship builder,
* Self-starter, problem solving/solution finding orientated, comfortable working independently and with a team,
* Must have a sense of urgency and be capable of dealing with fast-changing priorities and resolving ambiguity,
* Organization and time management, adopting flexible working hours culture,
* Professionalism and customer service,
* Able to use MS Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, Outlook, Dynamics CRM).
* English speaking and written language skills essential, Russian would be beneficial but not essential.
