Job description / Role
The Aircraft Servicer / Alternate Site Manager
The Aircraft Servicer / Alternate Site Manager services aircraft, performing any combination of the following tasks: directs incoming and outgoing aircraft near terminal or flight line parking area to assist pilots in maneuvering the aircraft on the ground, using hand or light signals or driving a light truck with a guiding sign, and secures aircraft in parking position with aircraft wheel chocks, installs landing gear and safing pins.
The ASM is jointly responsible for meeting work requirements, including scheduling of personnel, work supervision, and quality control, when requested by the Site Manager. Oversees scheduling of workloads with the various departments in accordance with operational and program requirements. Communicates new requirements, concerns, and issues to Site Manager/PMO for resolution. Provides for sufficient and viable contract performance through effective leadership of the site, to include compliance with quality and safety/environmental standards. Effectively co-manages any employee management issues that may arise. Closely supervises equipment and material within the assigned area of responsibility. Submits timely reports as required. Responsible for keeping the Company, PMO, and military leadership apprised on current status of operations, as required. Will be designated to serve in an extended absence of the Site Manager and have the full authority to act for all functions relating to daily contract operation in the absence of the SM. Performs all other position-related duties as assigned or requested. Assures the assigned tasks are performed within the specified timeframes while meeting safety and quality standards as required by the program. Provides input to the Site Manager/Customer on any issues as it relates to fire alarm and fire suppression contract requirements.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract)
- Operates service vehicles to replenish water, waste system chemicals (at select locations).
- Assists with refueling, defueling, and towing aircraft (tow vehicle operator).
- Operates ground support equipment such as electrical power carts, engine starting carts, air conditioning carts, nitrogen carts, oil, and hydraulic carts for serving aircraft.
- Examines tires for specified air pressure and condition.
- Positions boarding platforms to unload or load aircraft passengers (staircase truck).
- De-ices aircraft wings and assemblies (select locations).
- Extracts engine oil samples when required and provides them to NDI for analysis.
- Coordinates via land mobile radio with air traffic control for follow me and towing of aircraft to designated parking spots.
- Retrieves drag chutes and returns them to the owning maintenance unit.
- Coordinates with base supply in ordering parts for aircraft.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Knowledge & Skills
Required Qualifications, Experience & Other
- ASM must have a minimum of six (6) years management experience related to the performance work statement (PWS).
- Willingness to work shifts and extended hours in support of 24/7 operations.
- Ability to exercise discretion and make effective decisions.
- Solid communication skills, strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
- Possess excellent communication, analytical, project management, and supervisory skills.
- Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence to management and/or the military.
- Ability to adapt to frequent change and a fast-paced work environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with others in a positive, customer-focused manner.
- Desktop computer skills are essential with proficiency in the full range of Microsoft Office applications and should be capable of preparing management level reports and presentations.
- Must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Valid State driver's license required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance; note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Experience & Education
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) airframe / power plant license or DD 214 with documentation reflecting aircraft maintenance experience.
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Additional experience/education may be required by assignment or contract.
Physical Requirements / Working Environment
- Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
- Long hours, exposure to weather, dust, and hazardous/harsh conditions.
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
Travel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
