Farm Supervisor

Job description / Role

The Farm Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily farm operations, managing staff, and ensuring the effective and efficient production of crops.
This role requires strong leadership skills, knowledge of landscaping and agriculture, and a commitment to best practices in farming techniques and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily farming activities, including planting, cultivating, harvesting, and maintaining crops.
- Manage and train farm workers, assign tasks, and ensure that all staff members are following safety protocols and best practices.
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement production plans, including crop rotation, planting schedules, and resource allocation.
- Ensure all farm equipment and machinery are properly maintained, serviced, and operated safely by staff.
- Monitor the quality of produce, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of farm activities, including planting and harvesting dates, crop yields, livestock health, and equipment usage.
- Assist in managing the farm budget, including labor costs, input purchases, and overall operational expenses.
- Identify and manage pest and disease outbreaks, implementing integrated pest management (IPM) practices to minimize impacts on production.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a culture of safety among all farm personnel.
- Provide regular updates and reports to farm management on operations, staff performance, and production metrics.

- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in agriculture / horticulture, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in farm management / supervision.
- Strong knowledge of landscaping and agricultural practices, crop management.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks.
- Proficient in record keeping and basic computer skills.
