Job description / Role
Purpose
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled inspections on small arms repairs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs initial inspections to determine the nature and extent of small arms repairs required.
- Performs final inspections on small arms after the repairs have been completed.
- Disassembles and examines parts and assemblies as required and reassembles and adjusts components.
- Determines serviceability of parts and diagnoses and determines remedies for failures commonly encountered in the repairs of weapons systems using a variety of diagnostic techniques and test measurement and diagnostic equipment with little or no supervision.
- Prepares records of inspection and tests and makes them available to the quality assurance and quality control department.
- Obtains approval prior to repair actions on warranted items.
- Cross trains when required to ensure maximum flexibility and possession of technical skills in the development and maintenance of quality programs.
- Ensures compliance with government and corporate regulations, company standard operating procedures, directives, and technical manuals to establish and maintain a quality management program.
- Maintains cross-talk with quality assurance and contracting officer representatives.
- Conducts surveillances and performs other administrative duties as required within the quality control office.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- 5 years of experience in small arms repair required.
- 2 or more years of quality control and inspection experience required.
- US Army military occupational specialty 45K, US Marine Corps 2111 or another military or civilian equivalent required.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
- Must have good knowledge of diagnostic tools and forms used at the unit and direct support/general support level.
- Must have good knowledge of tools and repair equipment.
- Must have the ability to analyze and interpret US Army technical manuals with relation to small arms repair.
- Must be able to prioritize responsibilities in order to handle a demanding workload.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, oral and written English communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Must be customer service focused.
Certification, License & Clearance
- Tier 1 national agency check with inquiries required for all U.S. citizens.
- U.S. citizenship required.
Facility Credentials/Authorization Required
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Note: U.S. citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
Work Environment, Physical Demands & Mental Demands
- Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively.
- Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
- Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
