Job Overview

The Lead CCTV/Physical Security Engineer is tasked with solving unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business. The Lead CCTV/Physical Security Engineer is considered a specialist in the field of telecommunications, and they offer a broad base of knowledge about the engineering function. The Lead CCTV/Physical Security Engineer role requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop creative solutions to telecommunications challenges.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses and design as per design basis, project specifications, design codes, and standards related to CCTV/Physical Security Systems.
  • Perform site visits to gather information and prepare the report.
  • Study the existing CCTV layout drawings and provide solutions for coverage study.
  • Supply design consultants with information for all design issues including network studies and interfaces.
  • Provide the required technical guidance to develop new specifications and update existing specifications in line with customer requirements.
  • Design and specification development for telecommunication and networking, including copper and fiber (horizontal, vertical, and backbone).
  • Design process CCTV and security CCTV for all areas.
  • Prepare, review, and (as Lead Engineer) approve telecom systems definition, including philosophy, specifications, safety drawings, and system architecture.
  • Prepare, review, and (as Lead Engineer) approve FDS&GDS logic (as applicable) / cause & effect diagrams, in cooperation with instrumentation engineering.
  • Analyze CCTV requirements for process areas, buildings, and roads for the installation of telecommunications equipment.
  • Coordinate with the electrical team to complete site design solutions.
  • Coordinate with CCTV vendor to develop the TBE documents.
  • Under direction, be responsible for the execution of a significant piece of engineering work.
  • Must be familiar with relevant codes, client SHELL DEPs design specifications and procedures, and have a thorough working knowledge of the latest design and analytical techniques.

Key Tasks

  • Develop creative and innovative solutions that are reliable and cost-effective for problems and challenges when they arise.
  • Interpret contractual requirements as they relate to engineering execution.
  • Identify changes to scope and promptly raise change notifications, including providing any necessary supporting documentation and estimates.
  • Raise technical queries to obtain missing information, clarify work scope, and maintain preferred KBR procedures, specifications, standards, practices, and operational requirements.
  • Provide technical direction and review of designers producing products related to telecom engineering.
  • Procurement assistance includes preparing, reviewing, and (as Lead Engineer) approving requisitions, evaluating technical quotations, and preparing queries, compiling bid tabulations and recommendations, preparing purchase requisitions, and coordinating with procurement to expedite vendor documents, as directed by the Discipline Lead Engineer.
  • Review and (as Lead Engineer) approve vendor and subcontractor submittals, checking for compliance with project specifications and providing comments as necessary.
  • Review and (as Lead Engineer) approve specifications and data sheets for telecom equipment.
  • Review and (as Lead Engineer) approve telecom equipment spare parts lists.
  • Review and (as Lead Engineer) approve telecom equipment testing procedures.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of physical security systems related systems (CCTV, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and/or access control systems (ACS), etc.).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electronics and communication, telecommunication engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience in oil and gas with major contractors or consultants predominantly performing detail design.
  • Preferably registered professional engineer or member of a professional engineering society.
  • Detailed knowledge of design techniques and analysis methods, and detailed knowledge of the theory, content, and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable.
  • Knowledgeable in project coordination and execution skills.
