Employment: Full Time

Reporting to: Senior Information Manager on a day to day basis and ultimately to the Head of Section

Pace is the leading design consultancy in Kuwait, we have a multi-disciplinary team and employ an integrated approach to design. MEP Information Manager acts as a liaison between design teams, support teams and technology.

They will drive our BIM strategy within the MEP section, enhancing our capability to deliver world class projects using Building Information Modelling/Management. The post holder will operate at a strategic level, working with the Senior Information Manager to ensure that the MEP is aligned to the overarching BIM strategy and deliver our BIM programme and capability accordingly.

This will be achieved by building and leading the MEP BIM team comprising of the following members:

• Task Team Managers (Senior Engineers responsible for checking and approving information models prior to sharing, resourcing, programme, commercial)

• Task Information Managers (Senior Draftsmen responsible for ensuring that BIM models at project level are generated in accordance with the BIM Execution Plan, content, project set up)

• Interface Managers (Senior Draftsman responsible for resolving clashes or escalating unresolved clashes to the Task Team Manager)

• Software Application Specialists(trainers, floor support)

The role requires a high level of experience and capability to successfully deliver in these key areas:

Leadership

As a senior member of BIM Steering group the post holder will responsible for providing MEP feedback and rolling out the MEP programme for our implementation of BIM, this will require visible leadership. Working with key stakeholders from design and support teams the Head of BIM & Design Systems will identify opportunities, areas for development and challenges that need to be addressed. The post holder will champion innovation in the use of BIM and Design Systems, encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration. They will lead our internal BIM team to ensure correct structure, skills and capability to meet current and future needs.

The MEP Information Manager will work across the MEP Section to determine where knowledge and capability needs to be developed and will identify individuals to attend training to ensure that the BIM team are confident and competent in their BIM role.

Technology and Standards

The post holder will provide technology leadership across the MEP section, working with key stakeholders, internal groups and the Senior Information Manager to determine the technology roadmap for both BIM projects and maintain a portfolio of design tools that coexist and are applied at appropriate phases in design projects.

The MEP Information Manager will be consulted by the Senior Information Manager to develop and deploy required standards to ensure cross discipline alignment and consistency and best practice in design delivery and establish the necessary resources to create and manage BIM content, building a library of assets for future use.

The post holder will be responsible for authoring the MEP BIM Model(s) in accordance with the project BEP and for ensuring that the Information Authors produce information in accordance with the project MEP.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
• Communicate BIM roadmap to the Heads of Section, Task Information Managers, Information Authors, Interface Managers and MEP consultants.
• Deliver BIM MEP Programmes.
• Work with 'digital team members' to drive the effective use and transition from CAD to BIM.
• Participate as a member of BIM steering group in establishing governance processes of direction and control to ensure that objectives are achieved, risks are managed appropriately and the organisation’s resources are used responsibly.
• Input to BIM Programme planning.
• Input to the strategic planning of new solutions, upgrades and improvements and deliver as agreed.
• Provide support and expert advice on BIM to project teams, support teams, and project management.
• Ensure the practice’s internal technological processes comply with the profession expectations and applicable standards.
• Input to recruitment, training, retention, and organization of all MEP BIM Management staff in accordance with the practice hiring process, personnel policies, and budget requirements.

Management
• Lead the use of design software applications, processes and standards within the MEP Section.
• Develop and maintain the approved design software portfolio.
• Ensure that best practices, standards and processes are upheld.
• Delivery of the BIM training programmes for the MEP team.
• Evaluate software utilisation versus license position to ensure adequate capacity and effective use of technology investments.

Development / R&D
• Evaluate new technologies and bring these into use where cost benefit exists.
• Develop strong and effective relationships with technology suppliers to ensure that we have the right software, support and voice on their future roadmaps.
• Develop a content library for BIM objects with processes for management and standards for use.
• Lead strategic planning to achieve MEP goals by identifying and prioritising development initiatives and setting timetables for the evaluation, development and deployment.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, and software development best practices.

Education
• Share knowledge, mentor, and educate the MEP Task Team Managers, Task Information Managers, Interface Managers, Information Authors,and consultants with regard to the Paces’ processes and technology vision, opportunities, areas for improvement and challenges.
• Work with the Learning and Development team in HR on training programmes and recording of BIM capability in a BIM Skills Matrix.
• Ensure continued development of BIM Team.
