Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

We are currently looking for Operation Planning Expert Engineers for our project in Kuwait. You will be responsible for operation planning in the short term / medium term for the availability of generation resources to meet the forecasted load including any power import or export agreement and required spinning reserves with all coordination activities with Gulf Co-operation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) and to approve the outages on the power system comprising of generating stations and transmission system ranging from 11 (not the Primary Distribution system) to 400 KV of the Ministry of Electricity & Water.

Responsibilities and needed expertise are broadly defined hereafter but not limited to:

- To plan short term (a week ahead), medium term (a year ahead) and long term (Two years ahead) power generation and transmission resources.
- To make Load Forecast in the short, medium and long term and allocation of generation to different power stations according to the available and planned power units and the Network capacities in such a way that optimal load flow results even in contingencies.
- Checking, compilation and preparation of all documents pertaining to system operational statistics.
- Analysis of Abnormal Reports / Post Mortem reports and their follow up & analysis with conclusion drawn and reporting for adoption of recommendations to avoid recurrence of such abnormal incidents.
- To evaluate the operational methods & procedures being followed and preparation of reports for their improvements
- To establish in coordination with the operation specialist engineer the restoration procedures for different scenarios concerning system faults resulting in partial or complete black outs.

Requirements

Experienced in Power System Operation Planning for at least fifteen (15) years out which at least Ten (10) years in a responsible position as an operation planning engineer for the interconnected West European network and should have thorough knowledge of operational criteria under normal and abnormal system conditions and in particular interconnection transactions and contracts management. In addition, one should have experience in using the available Siemens Spectrum On Line Software system for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Energy Management System comprising of Network Analysis, Generation Control & Scheduling, Expert system and Dispatcher Training Simulation applications.
