WSP are looking for a Senior Bridge Engineer to join the Construction Supervision team for a major highway upgrade project in Kuwait.
The key objectives of the role will be to:
- Lead the Project team in structural analysis, design, evaluation and preparation of calculation and drawings using AASHTO LRFD method.
- Lead the Project from initial concept through the planning processes to implementation.
- Prepare standard documents, such as technical specifications, in accordance with applicable design codes in Kuwait, which is usually based on AASHTO standards.
- Supervise, coordinates and reviews the work of Section Engineer & Assistant Section Engineers.
- Supervise construction of bridges with live traffic by balanced cantilever method.
- Approve contractor’s method statement for the demolition of existing bridges.
- Select and approve most appropriate temporary bridge designed by the contractor.
- Supervise the construction of temporary bridges.
- Coordinate with the contractor for the transportation of bridge girders from Pre-cast yard to the construction site.
- Supervise construction of Depressed Roadways.
- Prepare inspection check lists for work items and perform acceptance inspections for completed works
- Liaise with relevant authorities regarding the quality of work and final inspection
- Ensure that safety measures are taken on site
- Record contractor’s activity on site
- Review as-built drawings prepared by the contractor
- Check contractor’s shop drawings and method statements
- Prepare daily reports
- Assist in preparation of QS reports for Section Works
- Work with the Material Engineer to ensure that the required material testing is scheduled properly and carried out and reported
- Initiate and draft variation orders necessitated during the works
Requirements
In order to meet the challenge you will have the following skills and experience:
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 20 years of experience.
- Strong technical expertise and experience in the design and construction of bridges and working with modern bridge design codes.
- Experience in similar capacity in major highway upgrade projects
