Job description / Role
Senior Chartered Quantity Surveyor - Kuwait
The Quantity Surveyor shall be responsible to, and advise the Resident Engineer on financial matters with respect to the Contract. He/She will ensure that all project records relating to quantity surveying and the financial aspects of the Contract are current and in accordance with the Contract.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing a BOQ Recapitulation
- Preparing Monthly Financial Report
- Reviewing and advising on requests for additional compensation and time extensions.
- Preparing Variations for all ‘Additional’ and ‘New’ Works
- Checking and recommending payment of progress payments due to the Contractor.
- Checking joint measurements for interim payments
- Checking the Contractor’s interim and final pay certificates
- Evaluating unit rates for new items of work
- When necessary, determine proper costs of variations (additions or reductions) and recommend appropriate action
- Preparing and maintain Interim and Final Quantity Books
- Checking and recommendation for approval of the final quantities submitted by the Contractor
- Computing final pay quantities.
Requirements
- Engineering Degree qualified and chartered QS / MRICS.
- Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on Highway projects
- Minimum 15 years of experience.
- Relevant post-contract site supervision experience in the Middle East
- Excellent communication and report writing skills, and good presentation skills in English.
- Written and spoken Arabic skills are beneficial but not essential.
- Large scale civil projects experience is preferred (roads, earthworks).
- Expertise in Post-contract work is ideal.
