Job description / Role
Role Profile:
Ensures planning, managing, and implementing financial, taxation, accounting and supports key IT projects to drive the financial accounting and compliance processes in Middle East countries to achieve strategic goals of the business. Ensures that international accounting standards are followed and provides financial guidance and support through an in-depth understanding of business fundamentals, competitive landscape, and implications on current strategy.
Key Performance Areas:
- Ensures books of accounts are maintained and supports regular reporting as per Alshaya calendar as well as statutory requirements.
- Creates, reviews, and controls master data management in Oracle relevant to carry out day-to-day accounting for various entities.
- Maintains and suggests improvements in financial systems and workflow by ensuring that the business processes are in line with best practices and accounting standards.
- Analyzes existing accounting procedures and systems and restructures them to attain optimum efficiency levels.
- Provides training and imparts regular guidance to the team for various processes impacting KFR, statutory accounting, and compliances.
- Responsible for accounting and reporting of various investments into joint ventures, business acquisitions, and strategic funds.
- Works in conjunction with tax consultants so that all accounting transactions comply with corporate tax, Zakat, and other statutory requirements, including VAT, GST, excise tax, WHT, corporate tax, and thin capital.
- Ensures that all monthly compliances with respect to tax returns, tax payments, and statutory updates to management are provided by the due date.
- Facilitates tax inspections carried out by various tax authorities and ensures desired documents, reports, and explanations are provided in a timely manner.
- Represents the finance team for various IT projects such as Phoenix and Non-Phoenix to ensure project rollout is seamless, meeting all finance requirements post successful completion of the project.
- Provides inputs, guidance, leads user acceptance tests, and coordinates with various IT project management teams to ensure that finance and accounting frameworks are maintained or enhanced.
- Ensures that inventory accounting processes are accurate and interacts regularly with the brand team as well as the IT team for improvements.
- Works with external auditors for the year-end closing by ensuring the requested information is based on audit standards set by the company.
- Supports internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls and implements changes advised by the internal audit team for better controls.
- Regularly supports cross-functional teams to meet their various reporting and compliance requirements.
- Maintains close coordination with the group to provide financial information and resolve queries to support the group's consolidation requirements.
- Undertakes review of business performance, monthly financials, and various management reports as and when required.
- Supports treasury, business team, and planning team for working capital management.
- Closely works with the business team to resolve pending queries and provide solutions to address them.
Education:
- Bachelor of Commerce or Accounting plus CA, ACCA, or CPA.
Age:
- 35 to 45.
Language:
- English and Arabic (read and speak).
