JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

• Interviews patient to determine medical problem/condition and documents in chart, takes patient’s vital signs, treats wounds, and evaluates physical condition of patient.
• Assists physician in employee medical examinations and treatment (Reviews physician’s orders, lab requests or follow-up needs with patient).
• Maintaining employee health records ;( Interpretation and evaluation of the worker's medical and occupational history, subjective complaints, and physical examination, along with any laboratory values or other diagnostic screening tests and personal exposure monitoring values)
• Contact physician and hospital to arrange for further medical treatment when needed and follows up with patients.
• Maintains supplies, including stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.
• Assessing the work environment for potential health and safety problems; (Observation and assessment of both the worker and the work environment)
• Policy development;
• Designing, developing and delivering new health promotion initiatives;
• Conducting a range of health and safety risk assessments;
• Delivering a range of health and health and safety related training programmes;
• Contributing to accident follow up ;( prepares medical accident reports and insurance forms and follows up with patients.
• Monitoring employee exposure to hazardous chemicals and undertaking statutory and non-statutory health surveillance;
• Advising employers on how they can achieve compliance with health and safety and employment legislation;
• Keeping up to date with legal and professional changes associated with public health and occupational health and safety.

REQUIREMENTS

• Education: Requires completion of Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) / paramedics, with Basic Safety training e.g. (IOSH, Nebosh, etc.).
• Experience: Requires at least three years of progressively more responsible nursing experience, preferably working in Emergency at Hospital/ Occupational health clinic environment (company nurse).
• A high level of understanding and practicing of practical nursing procedures.
• A thorough understanding of medical terminology and practical medical procedures in a clinic and Occupational health environment.
• A general understanding of basic business practices is essential.
• Must have basic organizational and planning skills, so that work flow is managed efficiently and accurately.
• Must be able to use various safety equipment and apparatus and other equipment, as applicable.
• Must have a high level of proficiency in the use of MS Office, including Word.
• Must have excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
