JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

The Company:

A successful Construction Group are seeking a Project Manager in Manama, Bahrain. The company are engaged in civil engineering and building works, with expertise in industrial, commercial, residential and hotel projects.

Position and Project:

Following the recent award of a major military project, they are poised to enter an exciting phase of their expansion. To maintain their enviable reputation and to help ensure the efficient delivery of this project, they are looking to appoint a seasoned Project Manager.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Define and clarify project scope. Develop the project plan and help establish the Baseline Program. Develop the project schedule and internal program of works. Develop policies and procedures to support the achievement of the project objectives.
• Upon issuance of the Baseline Program, establish the resource forecast, material schedule, long lead items plan of procurement and plan of subcontractors.
• A major driver in this aspect is the company's existing structure. Determine the organizational structure of the project team. Identify roles and positions as per project plan. Identify services to be provided by external companies. Staff project positions.
• Setting team direction. Coordinating activities across different organizational functions. Motivating team members and assigning work.
• Contracts Management - contractually record all the changes arrived from the Engineer/Client and claim the time and cost implications as per the contract agreement. Record by official letters all critical contractual matters which might help in later stage of the project.
• To Maintain the long lead procurement and in case that the approval of shop drawings, MACs and mock-ups are not in line with the program, to inform officially the client and Engineer for the upcoming delays.
• To ensure that the site team is working safely, effectively, productively within the working days/hours, therefore to minimize the overtime.
• To arrange weekly coordination meetings with all subcontractors and project involved parties and ensure that all are in the same target without deviations. In case that subcontractors/suppliers are delaying the project, to investigate the cause of the delay and find ways of recovery.
• To attend and review all safety reports, tool box talks and safety committee meetings and analyse if there are risks in safety and proactively a resolve them all.
• To review all MoS before submission and ensure that safety parameters are included and implemented at site.
• To maintain the inspection procedures in every essential step of the project and proceed with the works only upon approval of the inspection and MoS. This will minimize future defects and snags.

REQUIREMENTS

Requirements:

• Degree Qualified in a relevant discipline (civil engineering, construction / project management)
• 15 plus years of proven experience in the main contracting field.
• Previous experience working on Military Projects is highly desirable. Other military experience will be considered.
