The Fujairah 1 Independent Water and Power Plant is one of the largest operating hybrid desalination plants in the world with a power capacity of 893 megawatts and a seawater desalination capacity of 100 million imperial gallons or 455,000 cubic metres per day. The hybrid sea water desalination plant employs a combination of Multi-stage Flash and Reverse Osmosis technologies.

The facility is owned by “Emirates Sembcorp Water & Power Co - ESC” which is 60% owned by “Union Power Holding Company” a unit of Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority(ADWEA) and 40% owned by “Sembcorp Gulf Holding Co.Ltd”(Singapore), a unit of Singapore’s Sembcorp Industries Ltd.

Sembcorp Gulf O&M Co. Ltd. (SGOMC), a 100% owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Utilities Ltd. is responsible for the Operation & Maintenance of F1 IWPP.
