Overview of the role

The deputy sales manager is responsible for maintaining high service levels and customer satisfaction in sales departments through effective day-to-day management. This role involves promoting the IKEA concept and working closely with customers to meet their needs, driving sales, and maintaining competitive market awareness. The deputy sales manager leads, inspires, and develops the sales team, optimizes sales and profits, and ensures strategic objectives are met. The role also focuses on people development, empowering team members, and fostering a positive work environment that upholds the IKEA culture and values.

What you will do

Commercial
  • Meet the needs of customers by understanding their requirements and developing effective working relationships, establishing trust and confidence.
  • Determine customer requirements and assist them in ordering and advising on new or reserved items.
  • Follow up on quotations to convert them into actual sales.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service and promote sales by spotting opportunities and offering solutions.
  • Suggest sales improvements to the supervisor, identifying slow-moving items and suggesting sales actions.
  • Maintain product displays as per company merchandising methods.
  • Stay aware of local market developments and make market visits to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Keep updated on product range changes and inform the sales manager of customer feedback on products.
  • Operations
  • Lead, inspire, and motivate the sales team to optimize sales and profits.
  • Ensure store maintains "In Shape as New" standards.
  • Implement store's commercial activities and business plan.
  • Define objectives for continuous evaluation and follow-up.
  • Contribute to the store's commercial team efforts.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans based on business priorities and local market needs.
  • Prepare annual departmental budget and ensure expenses remain within guidelines.
  • Establish annual and monthly sales and profit objectives.
  • People management
  • Develop team members and ensure their training on the IKEA concept and key guidelines.
  • Empower, support, and coach sales coworkers to enhance performance and growth.
  • Actively develop successors to meet store succession needs.
  • Promote an environment where the IKEA culture and diversity are valued, ensuring the store is a great place to work.
