Purpose of the job

To manage and maintain Active Directory and Exchange systems.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Install new and rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures; contribute to and maintain system standards.
  • Perform daily system and security monitoring, verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, review system and application logs.
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensure all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media and integrity checked regularly.
  • Provide support to various end user and developer groups by request.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis.
  • Administer, configure, and maintain Microsoft Exchange server.
  • Manage mailboxes, public folders, and other mailbox resources.
  • Troubleshoot Exchange server issues and performance tuning.
  • Develop and implement anti-spam and anti-virus measures.
  • Create and manage mailbox stores and distribution groups.
  • Configure and manage mobile devices that link to Exchange.
  • Perform backups, restores, and set up disaster recovery plans.
  • Monitor Exchange server performance and optimize server resources.
  • Perform Exchange server upgrades and patching as needed.
  • Provide end-user support and troubleshooting.

    Education
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or any related field from a recognized university.
  • Experience
  • 5 years experience working in IT.
  • Experience engineering support of Active Directory, DNS, and any additional Microsoft technologies.
  • Experience with Active Directory including GPO, DNS and DHCP.
  • Experience with capacity planning, performance monitoring and maintenance planning to ensure high availability.
  • Work closely with network engineering in the development, coordination, troubleshooting of enterprise network security systems and implementation of appropriate rulesets.
  • Participate with implementation of solutions involving data encryption, data masking, secure file transfers, and data leakage prevention. Support new initiatives related to regulatory mandates.
  • Assist in maintaining Application Packaging Standards, Desktop Standards, Hardware Imaging, OS Patches, etc.
  • Design and develop PowerShell scripts for automation of operational processes, where appropriate.
  • Implement and support security policies and audits. Troubleshoot and resolve security permissions issues.
  • Interface with systems administrators and DBAs to improve operational processes and engineering standards.
  • Experience with at least one scripting language (PowerShell, VBScript, Python, etc.).
  • Exchange administration and support; SQL Server administration and support.
  • Must have the following certificates
  • Microsoft Office 365 Certified: Administrator Expert
  • Azure Solution Architect Expert
