Duties and Responsibilities
- Verifies and ensures that the applicable radiation safety regulations, codes and standards are observed in the technical documentation elaborated by the Contractor
- Drafts and reviews radiation protection policies and procedures
- Reviews records of radiological and environmental conditions and recommends corrective measures
- Develops and reviews radiation protection systems with basic and/or complex scientific equipment
- Calculates radiation effects from radiation sources and recommends protective measures
- Assesses radiation risks in the workplace and advises on the design of the facilities, equipment and waste disposal to ensure safety
- Assesses the impact of releasing radioactive material on the environment
- Reviews and advises on the safe transport of radioactive materials
- Reviews, comments on and prepares emergency plans and contingency procedures for responding to radiation incidents
- Liaises with other engineering disciplines on matters of radiation safety and legislation
- Develops training materials and conducts training on radiation protection features

REQUIREMENTS

Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required (Master's degree preferred) in radiology, nuclear engineering, or nuclear physics
- Strong technical skills; 7 years of experience in radiation protection engineering in the nuclear energy industry
- Thorough understanding of radioactivity measurement
- MERCURAD, PANTHERE, MicroShield, or other dose rate software experience is recommended

Special Job Requirements
- Work location is Cairo, Egypt and the El Dabaa NPP site.
- Ability to analyze, communicate, influence and persuade
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential, understanding of Russian and/or Arabic is a plus
