Job description

The senior AP accountant is responsible for managing the company's accounting operations related to accounts payable, ensuring accurate financial records and supporting regulatory compliance. This role is not managerial but involves supervising accounting tasks, preparing financial reports, and providing insights to guide financial decisions. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles and experience in mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities:

Handle the end-to-end accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely invoice processing and payment disbursements.

Maintain vendor master data and manage vendor communications effectively to resolve payment and invoice discrepancies.

Reconcile supplier statements and manage accounts payable aging reports to optimize cash flow and ensure timely payments.

Prepare and process payment runs, including manual and automated payments, in multiple currencies when applicable.

Support month-end and year-end closing processes including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.

Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance AP efficiency and accuracy.

Ensure proper record keeping and documentation to support audit requirements and internal controls.

Collaborate closely with procurement, finance, and other internal stakeholders to streamline invoice approval and payment workflows.

Participate in system upgrades or ERP implementations affecting the accounts payable function.

Provide analysis and reporting on AP metrics and financial data to support decision-making and compliance.

Personal skills:

Excellent communication skills.

Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.

Excellent report writing skills.

Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Very good command of English.

Technical skills:

Previous proven experience with ERP systems is a must.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis for reporting and reconciliation.

Thorough understanding of accounts payable workflows, including purchase orders, invoice processing, three-way matching, and payment cycles.

Expertise in handling multi-currency transactions and international vendor payments with accuracy.

Education:

A degree in finance or a related field is required.
