Senior Technical Engineer

Job Description

Prepare metering and relaying diagrams, calculations, and determine the required protection and protective relays.

Develop detailed bill of materials for the protection, control, and metering devices with detailed ordering codes.

Prepare communication architectural block diagram (SAS architecture).

Witness factory acceptance tests (FAT) of the protection, control, and metering system, when required.

Provide technical support and troubleshooting including resolving site queries, attending site meetings, and performing site inspections, as required.

Design auxiliary AC and DC single line diagrams (SLD).

Prepare CT and VT sizing calculations.

Prepare auxiliary transformer sizing, AC and DC circuit breaker and cable sizing, charger, and battery sizing.

Review low current control (LCC), switchgear (SWGR), capacitor bank, and control and protection schematic drawings.

Review technical offers from suppliers.

Prepare protection relay settings for protection and control.

Develop load flow, short circuit analysis, and relay coordination studies are an advantage.

Technical Skills

Good experience in protection, control, and metering for power plants, substations, and distribution networks.

Proficient in the use of modelling software (i.e., ETAP).

A strong understanding of electrical theory, codes, and standards of electrical systems.

Knowledge of modern power systems, power system protection, and relay technologies.

Knowledge of metering systems.

Excellent knowledge of SAS and power system automation.
