This position will report directly to the Vice President of Administration and Finance

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Financial Administration to join our team. This role is critical for our institution as we continue to expand and enhance our educational offerings. The Director of Financial Administration will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the university, including budgeting, financial planning, and the management of financial risks. The role requires a leader who combines strong team leadership, emotional intelligence, and business acumen.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the university's goals.
• Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow for administration, academic departments, and initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards in the education sector.
• Lead financial planning and analysis efforts, providing strategic recommendations to the president and board of directors.
• Manage financial reporting, auditing processes, and financial controls.
• Collaborate effectively with all university stakeholders, ensuring financial strategies are communicated clearly and align with the university’s overall objectives.
• Foster a culture of financial awareness and accountability across the university.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

• A minimum of five years of experience in a senior financial management role in a western education institution.
• Demonstrated ability in budgeting and finance in a large-scale university setting.
• A proven track record of strong team leadership, emotional intelligence, and business acumen.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; MBA or relevant graduate degree preferred.
• Relevant financial certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or similar
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
• Ability to maintain strong relationships while ensuring financial objectives are met.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

AUIB is an American-style, nonprofit university located next to the Baghdad International Airport in Baghdad. This large-scale, multi-million dollar project is funded by Iraqi and U.S. donors, both public and private. The university opens for students on Jan. 17, 2021, with the College of Arts & Sciences, College of International Studies, and the College of Business. Eventually, there will be 10 colleges at the university, including a College of Medicine.
