JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary School Science Teacher to join a dynamic team in Baghdad, Iraq. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality science education to students in year 7-10, fostering a stimulating learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues to enhance the curriculum and support student achievement while actively participating in the school community.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging and comprehensive lesson plans that align with the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning needs.
- Deliver high-quality instruction in various science subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, using a range of teaching methods and technologies.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through formal and informal methods, providing constructive feedback and support to enhance their learning experience.
- Create a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect.
- Incorporate innovative teaching strategies and resources to enhance student understanding of scientific concepts and principles.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to design interdisciplinary projects and activities that promote a holistic educational experience.
- Engage with parents and guardians to communicate student progress and address any concerns, fostering a strong home-school connection.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements in science education.
- Contribute to the school's extracurricular activities, such as science clubs, competitions, and field trips, to enrich students' learning experiences.
- Support school initiatives and policies while upholding the values and mission of the institution.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, or a related field; a Master's degree or PGCE certification is Mandatory from a UK University.- A minimum of 5 years UK proven experience teaching science subjects at the secondary school level, with a strong understanding of the curriculum and assessment methods.
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging lesson plans and use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- A passion for science education and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their full potential in science.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and digital resources to enhance the learning experience.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to work as part of a team to support the school community.
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to work effectively in an international or diverse educational environment.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
Note, Iraq has a 5% Social Security Tax which is used for your state pension.
Salary:
USD
2,000 to 4,000
per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
