JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

The purpose of the role is to direct, lead and manage the RFFS on the airport to ensure it meets the day to day operational requirements, supports flying operations, complies with ICAO and local regulatory frameworks and meets all key performance indicators.

Key Accountabilities

Management
• Create and review systems of work and procedures, to ensure the organization meets all the requirements set by external regulatory bodies and meet the day-to-day operational needs of the airport, its customers and service providers.
• Develop fire plans, standard operational procedures, health & safety plans and provide regular progress reports for Director level review.
• Coordinate / establish MOU’s with all relevant parties both internal and external to the Airport. Review and update all emergency plans associated with airport departments and operations.
• Prepare and manage all budgets associated with the airport RFFS, within current company regulations.
• Direct all Rescue and Firefighting Operations at Major Incidents appropriately, delegating responsibilities correctly and effectively. Provide advice and guidance on all RFFS issues, when required, for Airport and or Company Senior Management Staff.
• Implement and maintain a safety management system to ensure that all Fire Department vehicles and associated equipment are maintained to operational readiness and checked/tested in accordance with current regulations. Ensure that all RFFS reserve stacks are maintained to the correct levels in accordance with current regulations.
• Ensure employee discipline in maintained to the highest level and that the correct minimum level of staffing is available on duty at all times. In addition, provide the correct level of RFFS cover is provided to meet the operating crash category.
• Be responsible for the maintenance of morale, welfare and discipline of all Fire Station personnel.

REQUIREMENTS

The applicant must have between 15 – 20 years full time airport experience. They must have held a position as an Airport Fire Chief or Deputy Fire Chief at a Category 9 International Airport for a minimum of 3 years and successfully managed the RFFS.

The applicant must provide evidence of possessing the necessary leadership and managerial skills to manage a large organization. They will be required speak English fluently and produce an excellent standard of English documentation.

In addition, the applicant must be able to operate effectively in high-stress situations and be able to meet the requirements of the current aviation medical standards. A thorough knowledge of ICAO and Airport Emergency Planning regulations is required along with experience of strategic planning and project management.

Qualifications
• Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) Minimum of Member Level (MIFireE) or National Equivalent
• Graduate of the City & Guilds Institute of Leadership and Management or National equivalent
• E1 Internal Verifier Qualification or Equivalent Auditor Qualification
• Emergency & Crisis Management – Planning or Industry Equivalent
• Formal Fire Investigation Qualification
• NEBOSH / IOSH – Managing Safely or Equivalent
• Current Qualification at Aviation RFFS Supervisor Level or National Equivalent
• A Formal Adult Teaching / Instructor Qualification, PTLLS (Minimum Level 3 Award)
• Computer Literate at a minimum level of ECDL or National Equivalent
• A Full Clean International Driving Licence
