In addition, it promotes and advances an understanding of diseases prevention amongst the population.

Founded in July 1982, the hospital has continued to develop and expand. Description

Job Title: Clinical Resource Nurse
Responsible to: Director, Clinical Nursing

Basic Function

Provides unit-based skills assessment and development for nursing personnel, nursing students, interns and residents within a clinical socialite.

Principle Duties

Clinical Practice

- Completes assigned responsibilities within established hospital, divisional and unit specific guidelines, policies and procedures, standards, protocols, etc.
- Actively participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of unit-based orientation and skills competency assessments.
- Maintains high visibility (90% clinical presence) on area(s) of responsibility.
- Evaluates and instructs staff and students in the performance of direct patient care and clinical documentation.
- Assists in planning, implementing and evaluating skill development programs for staff/students in coordination with Nurse Manager and Nursing Education Department and faculty (s).
- Demonstrates effective communication and collaboration skills when interacting with patients/families, other health care team members and members of other departments.

Administration

- Refers staff and students performance concerns to Nurse Managers.
- Acts as a resource to staff and student for patient care related skills and knowledge.
- Maintains all records pertaining to the operation of the area of assignment and generates reports as required.

Education & Research

- Assesses learning needs of staff and students and develops learning plans in conjunction with the Nurse Manager Nursing Education and University faculty.
- Maintains documentation related to staff and students developmental needs and action plans.
- Assumes responsibility for own professional growth.

Participates in teaching and mentoring of Nursing, Medical and Paramedical students, Interns and Residents.

- Assumes leadership role in quality improvement activities in clinical area(s).
- Works with all health care team members in activities designed for the improvement of patient care outcomes.
- Develops, implements and participates in Quality improvement processes and activities
- Complies with hospital infection control and safety protocols.

- Demonstrates respect, compassion and cultural sensitivity to patients/families, other hospital employees, students and faculty.

Requirements

- Diploma in Nursing; 3 years clinical experience in Pediatrics
