JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Transport Planner will be responsible for planning the delivery and collection of our Powered Access Machines from our depots to our customer sites.

The Transport Planner’s role will be varied as they will be responsible for providing efficient, cost effective delivery route planning as well as coordinating vehicles and drivers across the assigned region to ensure they are in the right location at the right time.

This role is critical to the smooth operation of our business, so the role will suit an individual with strong logistics or transport planning skills. The role holder will also be great at dealing with people and will have excellent organizational skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and manage the delivery of Powered Access Machines to meet agreed customer delivery times.
• Ensure that off-hired equipment is collected from customer sites in a timely manner
• Liaise with other departments to ensure all delayed departures and/or deliveries are clearly communicated to relevant area
• Plan deliveries and collections to ensure cost effective use of transport fleet
• Plan the activity of drivers ensuring maximum productivity within the targeted average hours is achieved
• Actively manage performance and standards of the internal Rapid Access and external transportation company drivers
• Monitor daily activity and take corrective action to meet customer expectations while liaising with other departments
• Carry out spot-checks of vehicle and driver records
• Coordinate all vehicle maintenance activities
• Ensure that all necessary off-hire damage notifications are recorded and changes applied
• Prepare and issue purchase orders
• Accurate completion of daily transport paperwork in-line with company policy and procedures

REQUIREMENTS

The chosen candidate will meet ALL the essential criteria below:

ESSENTIAL

• Educated to high school or above standard
• Experience working in a fast-paced, hire, logistics, transport or similar industry background
• Knowledge of road, air and sea freight
• Ability to deliver an excellent customer experience (in person and over the phone)
• Computer literate in the use of Microsoft Office packages
• Experience of preparing draft financial reports in Excel
• Fluent in English (verbal and written)

DESIRABLE

• Good knowledge of systems and transport planning or delivery route planning system
• Good understanding of different routes in the assigned geographical area
• Experience within a hire, heavy equipment or plant environment
• Clean current driving licence for the occasional requirement to visit a customer
• Fluent in Arabic (verbal and written)
