ATC Team Leader - Success Profile

Key purpose

The purpose of this position is to supervise and lead a line maintenance team to provide comprehensive engineering and maintenance services covering the Automatic Train Control (ATC) system for Dubai Metro.

Structure and reporting relationship

- This position reports to the ATC Engineer ( ATC TL to ATC Engineer to ATC Manager ).

Based on the specific requirement of the role

Key accountabilities

- Lead a team of ATC technicians to carry out all level of preventive and corrective maintenance and minor modifications activities on automatic train control system covering System Management Centre, Vehicle Control Centre, central control (vital and non-vital), vehicle on-board equipment and lineside equipment
- Supervise the installation, servicing and repairing of signaling and train control systems located in operations control centre, signaling equipment room, station signaling equipment rooms, depot signaling equipment rooms, along trackside and on-board trains
- Ensure the team uses proper hand, machine, electrical and electronic tools and reference to technical drawings, signaling schematics, manuals, procedures and instructions when performing repair and maintenance work
- Supervise the replacement of faulty signaling equipment, handover/taken back to the electronics workshop for repair
- Knowledge and competence in technical standards will be regularly assessed
- Produce and maintain accurate maintenance records of automatic train control system and equipment performance, work accomplished and other information using a computerized maintenance management system
- Ensure the maintenance tools and equipment are in good condition
- Provide technical support to other staff for the implementation of complex systems or new projects
- Assist subordinates with the job familiarization and to provide training and assessment where required
- Conduct performance review for ATC Technicians
- assist the ATC Engineers in conducting disciplinary and grievance for ATC Technicians
- Perform shift and emergency duties when required
- Drive work vehicles when responding to emergencies and when required on duty
- Perform and carry out duties as instructed/ directed by the ATC Engineer

REQUIREMENTS


Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualifications

Skills

- Must have good eyesight and normal colour vision
- Strong analytical mind, and ability to grasp the complexity of a software based signaling and train control system
- Ability to use and calibrate various electronic test equipment and PC for the maintenance of central, wayside and on-board signaling equipment
- Ability to write simple technical reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required
- Possess good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities
- Preferably a holder of a valid UAE driving license with good driving skill and experience

Experience

- Minimum 3 years work experience as a qualified electrical or electronics technician in maintaining and repairing computer based train control and signaling equipment, covering interlocking, onboard equipment, train detection equipment, switch machine, automatic train protection, automatic train supervision of equipment is highly preferable
- Preferably with 1 year of supervisory experience in supervising a team of technicians in carrying out maintenance activities

Knowledge

- Sound knowledge of signaling principles, fixed block and moving block signaling systems, software based interlocking devices, point machines, induction and docking loops, cab signaling displays, on-board and wayside signaling equipment, would be a definite advantage
- Preferably with IRSE license and certified to work on railway signaling equipment

Qualification

- Vocational trade certificate or ordinary diploma in electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent
