JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Big Data Application Lead to join a leading Abu Dhabi bank and play a vital part in their digital venture as they look to execute their digital strategy and transform the business.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for Managing the production systems related to Big Data ecosystem.
- Ensure that all components of Big Data ecosystem & configurations are according to the industry best practices and approved architecture as defined by Enterprise Architecture team.
- Enhance and Manage leading-edge IT capabilities in Data Management, Data Integration, Data Transformation, Data Warehousing, ETL, Master Data Management, Real-time web services, Big Data.
- Ensure that appropriate security controls are in place. Access to data is restricted only to authorized users as approved and granted by access control team.
- Provide the first level of support for Big Data solution and ensure data ingestion & processing is completed as required. Raise and follow-up with vendors where required for troubleshooting/fixes ensuring that the standard SLAs are met.
- Involve in the review of other projects, initiatives and systems being implemented in the bank to ensure that required data is captured in Big Data Lake for MIS / Analytical needs as well as to adhere to Big Data analytical landscape.
- Periodically review Big Data solutions and conduct health checks. Ensure that system resources are adequate for increasing analytical loads and are being optimally utilized.
- Assist and guide other teams on implications of Big Data on respective solutions. Also, guide ETL / Ingestion and Reporting teams to make the best use of Big Data infrastructure for any new data/report requirements.
- Prepare/Review IARs and related documents related to projects and tasks for approvals.
- Gathering requirements from business users for projects, tasks, operational requests and enhancements for technical teams
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 7 – 10 years of experience in IT activities of which minimum 5 years should be in a similar role in the Banking / Financial industry
- Must have hands-on experience in managing Big Data components like Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), Cloudera, Hive, Impala, Kafka, Flume, and Spark.
- Knowledge of other tools like Informatica, Talend, SAS Analytics for Bid Data, SAS Visual Analytics, SAP Hana, SAP Lumira and SAP Business Objects would be an added advantage.
