In this role, you will:
- To analyze incoming data, do validation, statistical and other types of profiling
- To work with the system deployed on hundreds of nodes and tens of petabytes of storage
- To query relational and NoSQL data bases to retrieve schemas, understand data and formats
- To work with data storage team and business functionality teams to understand best fit data representation and logical modelling of data, plus to help define internal schemas for data storage, suitable for ultra-high speed writes and reads
- To maintain internal standards for data schemas and models, to keep domain view of the system consistent, minimalistic, coherent across all modules
- To use ontology languages like OWL to define format independent schemas
- To be deeply involved into data acquisition process, communicating with vendors on technical details of the data source formats and documentation
- To be an intermediary between business owners and technical people, translating business requirements for data into technical language of data models
- To document external data formats in clean and organized way, maintain data format catalogs and samples
- To use data analysis tool sets like StreamSets, Nifi or others to get better insight into the data.
REQUIREMENTS
To bring your dream to life, you'll need:
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas, regardless of the technical capacity of the audience
- Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Strong level of information organization, categorization, analysis and presentation
- Strong experience in developing, validating, publishing, maintaining LOGICAL data models with exposure to or experience in developing, validating, publishing, maintaining PHYSICAL data models
- Strong experience with any from the list: creating Avro, XML schemas, working with JSON, protobuf data structures
- Experience working with document, graph or column oriented NoSQL data bases, like (HBase, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Neo4j, etc.) creating and maintaining schemas, writing queries to retrieve data
- Experience working with SQL DBs, any from the list (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL), creating schemas in ER notation, writing queries in SQL language
- Experience creating multidimensional schemas for OLAP (star schemas)
- Understanding of ETL processes and technologies
- Nice to have: experience with ontology driven systems and data design, ontology definition language OWL
