JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

We are working with our client, a well-established not for profit organisation, in order to fill a position of Legal Secretary/Typist to be based in Abu Dhabi. This is an immediate role and candidates should be available to start work as soon as possible in order to receive training and handover from the current jobholder. The role will be based in a private office/home on Saadiyat Island, so applicants must be comfortable in an informal, non-corporate environment and working in a small team. They should also love dogs, or at the very least not be allergic to or frightened of dogs.

REQUIREMENTS

The role involves taking live audio-dictation of correspondence, hence we are looking for candidates who are native English speakers with excellent written English (spelling and grammar) who have a proven typing speed of a minimum of 75-80wpm. This will be tested prior to interview. Additionally, a legal background is mandatory - either a law degree, or legal secretarial experience - as the work involves working with the business owner to prepare contracts, handle intellectual property issues and legal cases on an international scale.

The role works closely with numerous varied tasks at the same time, so we are looking for someone with a calm manner who works well under pressure, i.e. a candidate who is unflappable! The role has longer than average working hours so we are looking for someone who likes to be busy and who will throw themselves into their work with passion! In addition, only consider candidates currently based in Abu Dhabi or candidates willing to relocate to Abu Dhabi from elsewhere in the UAE within the first two weeks of employment can be considered. Finally, candidates should have a UAE driving licence and their own transport.
The successful candidate will gain an in-depth understanding of the running of the charity, specifically its licensing programme (including licensing contracts) and trademark portfolio. They will act as an integral part of the team and have direct involvement in the management of a busy office environment and team. As a small organisation, the candidate will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in every aspect of the running of the organisation and certainly the role offers considerable legal exposure for the right individual. Undoubtedly this experience will add an interesting and unusual dimension to their CV.
