JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

Key purpose
Based on permanent nightshift, the purpose of this position is to provide effective engineering and maintenance services covering turnouts, switch machines and VCC assemblies for the Dubai Metro as part of the S&C team under the supervision of the Track team.

Key Responsibilities
• Carry out inspection and maintenance on turnouts, particularly on switch machines and VCC assemblies
• Carry out corrective works on switch machines and VCC to resolve faults or any other issues
• Liaise with other disciplines to enable space coordination along the mainline, carry out site visits, inspections and asset condition monitoring
• Follow the appropriate inspection and maintenance procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance with the requirements
• Produce and maintain accurate reports of all inspection and maintenance works conducted
• Perform shift and emergency duties when required
• Ensure that all maintenance tools and equipment are in good condition both before and after job activities
• Perform other tasks as directed/ instructed by the track manager and track engineers

• Awareness of the Integrated Management System and the content of the Health, Safety, Quality & Environment and Information Security Policy Statements;
• Understanding of personal responsibilities and contribution to achieving compliance with the Integrated Management System requirements, (including but not limited to competence to perform safety critical roles, legal requirements, control measures arisen from environmental impacts and aspects, job safety analysis and information security risk assessment) and the potential consequences of departure from the arrangements in place to deliver the commitments

Safety Critical Competencies
• Maintenance and manual operation of the switch machines.
• Essential technical and professional skills , knowledge and qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

• Vocational trade certificate or diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent;
• Knowledge of signalling principles, fixed block and moving block signalling systems, software based interlocking devices, point machines, induction and docking loops, cab signalling displays, on-board and wayside signalling equipment, would be a definite advantage;

Skills
• Must have good eyesight and normal colour vision;
• Ability to write simple technical reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required;
• Possess good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment;
• Strong organisational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities;
• Hold a valid UAE driving license with good driving skill and experience.

Experience
• Minimum 1 year work experience as a qualified electrical or mechanical technician in maintaining and repairing computer based control and communication equipment, copper and fibre-optical based cables and interface equipment is highly preferable.

• Ensure compliance with all training requirements of Serco and ensure adherence to these requirements at all times whilst in employment
• Report any accidents, incidents, breaches or potential breaches to appropriate management or the speak up process
