JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

Responsibilities:
• Responsible for managing multi-disciplinary internal engineering resources for the project. This will include providing technical direction, priority setting, deadlines and follow-up.
• Responsible for the technical excellence of the engineering functions of projects (or project assigned too) including coordination of technical disciplines, quality of designs and adherence to schedule.
• The primary duties of the Rail Communication Engineer include design production and technical leadership for rail systems projects pertaining to rail communication.
• Work within a team of professionals to develop design plans, specifications, quantities, cost estimates and project schedules for a variety of communications, and electrical power equipment & infrastructure projects.
• Design of communications infrastructure including fiber optic and wireless technologies, CCTV, Dynamic Message Signs, and sensor technologies.
• Perform engineering field work as required (field equipment testing, utility and infrastructure verification, i.e. taking measurements and pictures at field sites)
• Support the Project Development process including preparation of conceptual and preliminary level designs and supporting documentation.
• Engage with stakeholders to ensure that their needs are understood and shape our services in response.
• Support bid writing and pricing to win work.
• Manage programs and budgets for project delivery.
• Take a leading role in the development and sharing of knowledge across the team and mentoring and developing other staff.

• Work with clients and the wider business to create winning opportunities within the rail industry.

REQUIREMENTS

Requirements:
• BSc or BEng degree and typically 18+ years of related professional experience. An advanced degree may be preferred at this level.
• At least 18+ years rail systems management experience.
• Ideally, the individual should also have direct working knowledge of rail communications systems including signaling (CBTC and ERTMS) ·
• IT and OT systems knowledge ideal
• Knowledge of rail engineering, signaling, and other railway/transit system technology is preferred
