JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

· Serve as the primary leader, in collaboration with the senior operating team, for company-wide maintenance reliability initiatives.
· Do this by defining the appropriate maintenance and reliability processes and best practices, and by driving the required continuous improvement mindset and cultural behaviours.
· Establish standard maintenance planning and scheduling processes to increase reliability and maximize efficiency (OEE). Standardize these processes across all operations.
· Manage effective critical spare part and Maintenance Repair Operations (MRO) inventory systems which support corporate and plant objectives.
· Ensure these processes are standardized across all operations.
· Work with procurement and other partners to build and leverage relationships with strategic vendors to foster partnerships based on trust and respect.
· Establish plant level KPI’s and routinely monitor results and communicate progress against objectives.
· Strive to improve these metrics through education, collaboration, & teamwork.
· Monitor MRO spending at sites and collaborate with plant level maintenance teams to manage spending to budget and ensure that expenditures are being made prudently with long term costs and benefits in mind.
· Review critical asset performance to mitigate risk and improve facility performance standards, operating effectiveness, and efficiency.
· Understand risk profile for each piece of major equipment and put contingency plans in place when deemed necessary.
· Must have a solid working knowledge of maintenance best practice methodologies such as RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and must lead proper implementation of these practices where appropriate in our company.
· Develop training programs to support local teams.
· Standardize these training programs across the company and foster collaboration and best practice sharing.
· Grow and develop the maintenance resources across the company.
· Maintain collaborative relationships with other functions such as safety, production, materials, Technology, quality, and process engineering, finance, environmental and HR in order to provide optimum services to the overall company.
· Mentor and coach plant maintenance head and reliability engineers as required.
· Grow and strengthen the bench of the maintenance and reliability departments by targeting and training in-house personnel with growth potential.
· Constantly monitor and improve maintenance personnel skills and abilities through management, training and recruitment.

REQUIREMENTS

Engineering degree or equivalent education and/or experience.

· Ten (10)+ years of experience in maintenance reliability leadership role.
· Heavy Metallurgy, Steel making and or mining industry experience.
· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) principles.
· Knowledge of Automation and SCADA systems, including PLC’s and robots
· Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
· Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other safety regulations and practices.
· Knowledge of Fire Prevention Systems and Norms
· Experience in the manufacturing of products in a heavy industrial, continuous flow discrete manufacturing environment
· Computer skills including, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, autoCAD, CMMS Software and SAP.
· Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills along with the ability and desire to work effectively in a team environment.
· Strong management and development skills including communication, conflict resolution, continuous learning and the capability to development people
· Advanced critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to be used for strategic planning when leading maintenance departments.
· Proven skills using predictive maintenance technology and Condition base monitoring with the ability to successfully analyze data outputs for proper preventative maintenance planning.
· A positive, proactive, team-based demeanour with a commitment to excellence.

· Able to simplify complex tasks and concepts when presenting them to key stakeholders with varying skills and knowledge with the intent of securing their alignment, and support in advance of executing final plans.
· Exposure to and general understanding of supply chains, cost structures, and other manufacturing business aspects.
· Management of multiple locations using financial, organizational & administrative planning skills.
· Ability to lead and promote teamwork in multiple locations across all functions
