JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer to design, validate, and develop advanced hardware
solutions for hyperscaler networking systems. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong technical background,
problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The successful
candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, troubleshoot complex issues, and deliver innovative, reliable, and scalable solutions.
What You’ll Do:
1. Define and Architect Solutions:
• Collaborate with the System Architect, Senior Lead Engineer, and Technical Project
Leader to support the definition and development of hardware architectures that align with project requirements.
• Assist in creating system block diagrams, power budgets, and thermal heat load to guide design decisions.
• Contribute to the preparation of technical proposals, including BOMs and feasibility evaluations.
2. Hardware Design and Development:
• Perform schematic entry using tools like Cadence Design Entry HDL or System Capture.
• Conduct schematic and PCB layout reviews to ensure compliance with SI/PI principles and design standards.
• Select and qualify alternative components for compatibility, cost-effectiveness, and benchmarking.
• Generate detailed design deliverables, including BOMs, hardware specifications, CPLD/FPGA pin assignments, and test cases.
• Collaborate with software teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware with firmware and drivers.
3. Validation and Debugging:
• Perform hardware bring-up, electrical validation, and prototype debugging to resolve system-level issues.
• Collaborate with test, manufacturing, and software teams to identify and address root causes of failures during NPI and field deployment.
4. Mentorship and Collaboration:
• Guide junior engineers, sharing expertise in hardware design and validation best practices.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., SI/PI, DC-DC, thermal, EMC) to ensure seamless integration and system compliance.
Requirements:
Candidates should have 9+ years' experience in either Network, Storage or Server products.Candidates should have the following essential qualifications and experience:
• At least BEng. (Hons.) in Electronics or similar
Technical Expertise:
1. Networking and Storage Systems:
• Familiarity with Ethernet switches, storage systems, and high-performance RISC/X86 CPUs (Intel, AMD, MRVL).
2. Signal and Power Integrity (SI/PI):
• Strong knowledge of high-speed signal optimization and PDN best practices in collaboration with SI/PI and DC-DC teams.
3. Hardware Debugging and Validation:
• Expertise in electrical design, debugging, and validation using oscilloscopes, probes, impedance analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
• Experience in timing, SI/PI troubleshooting, and system-level validation (Electrical/Design Validation Test, SPIT aka Signal, Power, Integrity & Timing).
4. Networking ASICs and PHYs:
• Experience with networking switch ASICs and PHYs (e.g., Broadcom, Marvell).
5. High-Speed and Low-Speed Interfaces:
• Proficiency in high-speed protocols (SerDes, PCIe, CXL, NVMe, SAS, SATA, RGMII, SGMII, MDI, USB and etc) and low-speed protocols (I2C, I3C, SMBUS, SPI, LPC, JTAG, MDIO, MDC and etc).
• Hands-on expertise with optical interfaces (such as OSFP), copper (RJ45), flyover high speed cable and cable backplane designs.
6. Memory and Storage Integration:
• Practical experience with M.2 SATA SSD, M.2 NVMe SSD, E1.S NVMe SSD, eMMC, and DDR interfaces.
7. Digital Circuit Design:
• Design and implementation of circuits with multiplexers (mux), buffers, retimers, redrivers.
8. Timing and Clock Systems:
• Ability to define and implement clock architectures (LVPECL, HCSL, LVDS, SyncE, PTP).
• Experience with clock generators, jitter attenuators, PCIe clock buffers, and PTP & SyncE timing solutions.
9. BMC and COM Express Modules:
• Familiarity with Baseboard Management Controllers (BMC) and COM Express (COME) modules, including RTC, TPM 2.0, and connector integration.
10. Power and Monitoring Modules:
• Experience in power sequencing, voltage monitoring, ADC integration, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) systems and related safety and isolation concept.
11. CPLD/FPGA Modules:
• Proficiency in integrate CPLD/FPGA into system and flashing and JTAG debugging.
12. Wireless and Networking Modules:
• Knowledge of WiFi and LTE modules and their integration into system designs.
• Familiarity with OOB switches, management PHYs, high-speed management interfaces, and LED indication designs.
13. Component Qualification:
• Hands-on experience qualifying alternative components for compatibility, cost optimization, and performance benchmarking.
Other Systems Knowledge:
• Ability to install and configure operating systems (Linux, ONIE, BIOS, BMC) and perform
• network and driver configurations.
• Familiarity with Diag tools, Linux/Windows operating systems, and diagnostic
• procedures for complex systems.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external teams.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Physical Demands:
• This role requires the candidate to work onsite at the designated office location, with flexible working hours provided to support work-life balance.
• Duties include working in a lab environment to perform hardware testing, validation, and debugging, which may involve standing, walking, or handling equipment.
• Responsibilities may involve extended periods of sitting and sustained visual focus on computer monitors or detailed data.
• Frequent repetitive hand movements, such as data entry and operating a computer mouse, may be required.
• Occasional travel may be necessary depending on project requirements.
