Chief Accountant

JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Chief Accountant to join our dynamic team in Muscat, Oman. The ideal candidate will oversee all financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations while providing strategic financial guidance to support the company's growth. Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in compliance with IFRS and local regulations.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis to assist in strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors as necessary.
- Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
- Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements to assess profitability and financial performance.
- Implement and maintain a robust internal control framework to safeguard company assets.
- Train and mentor accounting team members to strengthen their skills and performance.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or professional certification (CPA, CMA) is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Chief Accountant or in a similar accounting management role within the water or utilities industry is highly advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks) and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting methodologies.
- Solid understanding of local accounting regulations and tax laws in Oman.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
